The Royal National Park is located in Sutherland Shire in New South Wales, just south of Sydney.
It is the second oldest national park in the world after Yellowstone. It was founded by Sir John Robertson, Acting Premier of New South Wales, and formally proclaimed on 26 April 1879.
The park was added to the Australian National Heritage List in December 2006.
