Along the Great North Walk and linking tracks…
The Hawkesbury River is a valley estuary located to the west and north of Sydney. The Hawkesbury River and its associated main tributary, the Nepean River, virtually encircle the metropolitan region of Sydney.
Many National Parks are surrounding the different subsidiaries arms of the river catchment area. The Great North Walk (a walking track which runs from Sydney to Newcastle in New South Wales), is one of the main track in the area, including a huge variety of wildlife and scenery, and offering some of the best hiking around Sydney.
